Dr. Brian R. Hatten is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in personalized knee, hip and shoulder reconstructions. He also has surgical expertise in arthroscopic management of athletic injuries such as rotator cuff tears and meniscal injuries. Dr. Hatten has been in practice with The Orthopedic Clinic since 2004.

Dr. Hatten performs personalized knee replacements with advanced surgical techniques including the subvastus approach and kinematic alignment. He understands that every patient is unique and has individual anatomy and those differences must be accounted for during surgery. Dr. Hatten performs knee replacements with a complete quadriceps muscle and tendon sparing technique and precisely resurfaces the knee by aligning the prosthesis to the original pre-arthritic joint line. Combing the subvastus approach with kinematic alignment can shorten recovery, reduce pain, improve motion and produce a more natural feel to the replaced knee. Dr. Hatten has performed posterior approach hip replacements since 2004 and switched to the revolutionary anterior approach in 2012. He utilizes minimally invasive techniques and advanced intra-operative computer guidance to obtain precise and personalized component alignment.

Dr. Hatten has considerable experience with arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs and performs bone preserving anatomic shoulder replacements. He has expertise in reverse total shoulder replacement for patients with more complicated conditions. Dr. Hatten uses CT scans and pre-operative computer analysis to create patient specific surgical guides to personalize the position of the reconstruction components.
