About Dr. Richard K. Gaines
Dr. Richard K. Gaines is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and lifelong Florida resident raised in Daytona Beach. He joined The Orthopedic Clinic in 2015, bringing more than two decades of experience serving patients in Volusia County.
Dr. Gaines specializes in arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures of the knee and shoulder, as well as total hip replacement (including the anterior approach), and other advanced orthopedic procedures.
Dr. Gaines’s passion for orthopedics was inspired by his father, an oral surgeon, and his lifelong love of sports. Over the years, he has focused on helping patients regain mobility and quality of life through precise, minimally invasive techniques and comprehensive care.
He has extensive experience with shoulder and knee reconstruction, arthroscopic procedures, and total hip replacement surgery.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Gaines is committed to giving back to his community. He has served as a team physician for several local sports organizations, including Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the Daytona Cubs professional baseball team, and numerous high schools.
He is also a Clinical Instructor for the Florida State College of Medicine, sharing his expertise with the next generation of physicians.
Outside of work, Dr. Gaines enjoys golf, fishing, skiing, and spending time with his wife, Susan, and their three children. He values staying active and connected with family, bringing that same energy and focus to his practice.
