About Dr. Wassi H. Shaikh
Dr. Wassi Shaikh is a double board-certified interventional pain physician and anesthesiologist. He joined The Orthopedic Clinic in January 2026. Dr. Shaikh specializes in the treatment of all chronic pain conditions involving the spine, peripheral joints, nerves, muscles, and other complex pain syndromes.
Dr. Shaikh is trained in interventional pain procedures, minimally invasive surgical procedures, and medical management. He uses the latest research and medical knowledge to provide the best care for his patients. He has a particular interest in chronic pain of the spine, sacroiliac joint, and knee/shoulder joints.
Dr. Shaikh grew up in Detroit, MI, and was granted a presidential scholarship to attend Wayne State University. Prior to attending medical school, he participated in the Honors program and in a medical outreach trip to Haiti. He also worked as a supplemental instructor for organic chemistry undergraduate classes.
Dr. Shaikh received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He was granted a scholarship to attend medical school and co-founded the S.T.E.P program to prepare medical students for advanced medical exams.
After receiving his medical degree, he completed his anesthesiology residency at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, followed by his fellowship training in interventional pain management at Northwestern University.
He has published clinical and basic science research papers and was elected as the FAER scholar for the American Society of Anesthesiologists, presenting his research at national meetings.
At The Orthopedic Clinic, Dr. Shaikh sees patients at the following locations: Daytona Beach, Port Orange, and Palm Coast.
In his personal life, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, cooking, and traveling.
